How are the Combo-BAG containers transported?

Answer: Yes, Circuit Supervisors for the USDA have given their approval to set the Combo-BAG containers directly on the floor.
What do we do with the used bags?
Answer: The liner is removed and thrown away. The PVC support poles are removed and placed in a container that we supply. The remaining white portion of the bag is baled (about 100 per bale). You can sell it for recyclable plastic, or we can arrange to have a truck pick it up when a sufficient quantity is accumulated. The quantity that must be accumulated is dependent on the location and cost of shipping.
Who else is using the bags?

How much weight do they hold?

What is the price range?
Answer: $17 to $18 depending on size and quantity.
What kind of products can be handled in the bags?
Answer: Any kind of food product that is put in Combo Boxes can be put in Combo-BAG containers. Products that are being shipped in Combo-BAG containers are MST, MSC, poultry frames, poultry trimmings (chicken tenders, etc), pork trimmings, bacon ends and pieces, and livers.
How do the liners stay in the bags?
Answer: The liners are attached to the top of the white portion of the bags by four tabs that hold the liner even when dumping a sticky product such as ground meat or Mechanically Separated Meats.
What do we do with the bags after we dump them?
Answer: The liner is cut out of the white portion of the bag and thrown away. The PVC poles are removed and placed in a container that we will provide. The white portion of the bag should then be baled. You can have your local plastic recycler pickup the bales of bags, or we can arrange to have them picked up.
How does the rebate work?
Answer: We offer a 50-cent rebate for every four poles we receive back from the enduser. Each bag has four poles, so that is 50 cents for each bag. We supply the container that holds 1000 poles each. As you fill the containers we will make arrangements to have them shipped back to us.
The white portion of the bag also has a recycling value if a recycler near you has the equipment necessary to reprocess the bags. If so the bags have a current value of about $.50 to $1.00 each.
How is the liner closed off?
Answer: A piece of webbing is sewn to the top of the Combo-BAG container. This webbing is used to tie the liner closed, and because it is attached, it cannot contaminate the product.
What are they made of?
Answer: The white portion of the bag is made of woven polypropylene, the liner is made of polyethylene, and the support poles are made of PVC water pipe.
How are the bags filled?
Answer: The bags arrive completely pre-assembled. We offer two frame designs that can be used when filling the bags. With the larger frame, the bags are hung by the top loops. The smaller frame is inserted in pockets between the Combo-BAG container’s support poles and the sides of the bag. This frame holds the poles apart and parallel to each other. After the bag is filled, the frame is removed and the bag is ready to transport.
How are the bags dumped?
Answer: The bags can be placed on a dumper with or without a pallet under them. The two loops about half way down the bag are placed around two hooks that would be added to the frame of the dumper. Then the Combo-BAG container can be dumped the same as Combo Boxes.
Do modifications have to be made to equipment to tryout the Combo-BAG container?
Answer: No, a trial can be conducted without any modifications.
How would we load the Combo-BAG container if our forklift mast hits the top of the trailers when we pick the bags up by the top loops?
Answer: Forklifts that have a tall backrest extension would either have to have the extension removed or cut down smaller.
How could the Combo-BAG containers be used in our cooler with our racking system?
Answer: When the bags arrive at the receiving dock, they are placed on in-house plastic pallets. Then the containers can be handled the same as the typical combo box, with a pallet jack or forklift, and placed in racks. We can suggest some particular pallets that work very good for this application.
